Panasia Signs Frame Agreement with WinGD to Upgrade X-DF Dual-Fuel LNG Engines with Advanced Emission Reduction and Fuel Efficiency Technologies
Panasia has signed a frame agreement with WinGD to upgrade X-DF dual-fuel LNG engines with the latest technologies that enhance emission reduction and fuel efficiency.
As a supplier to WinGD, Panasia will leverage its deep understanding of vessel design and operational characteristics to actively support and execute efficient and cost-effective retrofit projects that achieve both fuel savings and emission reduction.
In the initial phase of this partnership, the focus will be on upgrading existing X-DF engines to the performance level of newly built X-DF engines—achieving equivalent fuel consumption, emission levels, and reduced methane slip.
Optional technologies include iCER (Intelligent Control by Exhaust Recycling) and VCR (Variable Compression Ratio), which enable existing X-DF engines to be upgraded to the next-generation X-DF2.0 standard.
By combining these two technologies, methane slip can be reduced to approximately 0.7% of the fuel gas volume, delivering significant improvements in both fuel efficiency and emission performance.
Rene Baart, Head of Retrofit & Upgrade at WinGD, stated,
“Since the introduction of the X-DF platform in 2016, a large number of engines have been built in Korea. This upgrade program is a natural next step, and we are delighted to collaborate with Panasia to modernize the existing installed base with the latest high-efficiency technologies.”
Lee Min-Geol, CEO of Panasia, added,
“Through this collaboration with WinGD, we aim to provide practical solutions that enhance the efficiency and reduce the emissions of existing vessels. Panasia will continue to position itself as a technology partner leading the sustainable transition of the global shipping industry.”
